Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)

B.Com (Hons.) is a specialized and most pursued undergraduate degree aimed for commerce students who wish to pursue a career in the field of accounting, finance, economics, company business, and alike. The curriculum helps in sensitizing students to various facets of managing people and to focus on the development of knowledge and skills that all managers and leaders need. B.Com (Hons) is a Bachelor’s course of 3 years which is the most pursued graduation course in the field of commerce, covering subjects such as Accounting, Taxation, Economics and Financial Management. Admissions are usually based on the performance scores in Class 12. The graduates of this programme will be trained to develop skills and attitudes needed for critical thinking and adopting a comprehensive problem-solving approach. They shall be exposed to the pedagogy that helps them understand real life situations through case-studies. The opportunities are huge in both private and government sectors across sectors such as finance, economics, bank and corporate. The main difference between B.Com (Hons.) and B.Com is in the nomenclature and course curriculum.

Syllabus as per New Education Policy Bachelor of Commerce:

Financial Accounting (Major1): Student will be able to understand about bookkeeping and accounting. Student will gain knowledge about accounting software, Branch account, Bank reconciliation, royalty and hire –purchase system.

Business Regulatory Framework (Major 2):  Student will be able to understand about the basic business laws and the regulatory authorities that exists.  The subject will give orientation about different types of contracts, agreements etc.

Business Organisation & Communication (Minor): Student can learn and practice group communication skill. They will learn how to respond in discussions, interview and conferences.

Business Economics & System (Elective):   Student will learn about demand and supply concept along with developing and understanding about market structure. Student will learn about production costs and economic models of supply.  OR

Fundamentals of Computer (Elective): Student will learn about basic fundamentals of computers along with hands on exposure to Ms. Office. 

Financial Services & Insurance (Vocational): Student will learn about functions of banking and insurance services. They will understand about mutual fund management, capital restructuring, portfolio management and insurance consultancy.  OR

Web Designing (Vocational): Student will learn about the basics of web designing. The core concepts of HTML is also covered in this subject.

Foundation Course (English& Hindi): Reading, Writing and Interpretation Skills, Comprehension Skill, Basic Language Skills and Basic Grammar.

Foundation Course (Environmental Studies): Student will be able to understand Environment and Natural Resources, Biome, Ecosystem and Biodiversity and Environmental Pollution, Management and Social Issues.

Foundation Course (Yoga and Dhyaan): student will learn practical and theoretical knowledge about Yoga and Yogic Practices, Breathing Practices and Pranayama and Practices leading to Meditation.
